Cattle ranch owners face felony charges after shooting a deer

CATTLE RANCHES owners are facing felony charges in Wyoming after a deer was shot by a rancher who mistook the animal for a cougar.

The Laramie Tribune reports that a hunter shot and killed a cougher last month.

He is currently being held on a $50,000 bond.

The owner of the ranch, Randy Lyle, is charged with one count of felony discharging a firearm within 600 feet of a motor vehicle.

He faces up to six months in jail and a $1,000 fine.

Lyle was reportedly at a cabin with his family when the deer wandered onto their property.

The sheriff’s department says Lyle saw the deer and approached it with a rifle.

He fired one round at the deer.
