Rangers open 2018 season with home opener vs. Chicago

Rangers opener against the Chicago Blackhawks at Madison Square Garden on Thursday night will mark the first time since the start of the Stanley Cup Playoffs that the team will play home games.

It also will mark a rare time for the Rangers to play on a regular-season home field since the 2015-16 season.

The team will start its regular season with back-to-back home games against the Columbus Blue Jackets and Minnesota Wild on Saturday and Sunday, respectively, and face off against the New York Islanders at Madison Squeeze on Saturday.

The Rangers open the season at the Garden at 7 p.m. on Saturday against the Islanders and will then play three games in New York.
