Beavers have always been popular in Washington, D.C., but this year, with more people having a baby and the birth of a baby girl, there’s even more demand for beaver homes.

Beaver breeding is so successful that in recent decades, beaver numbers have been increasing in the lower 48 states.
But this is the first year that Washington has a beaver population of more than 10,000.
It’s rare for beavers to be born with a baby, but that doesn’t mean that they don’t need a home.
Beavers are able to breed for up to two years before the babies need to be removed to the wild.
They’re typically placed in a den and kept in an outdoor area that is kept as cool as possible.
