A few months ago, we reported that the Mount Magazine Lodge had a special offer for fans of the St. Paul Saints.
Now, it appears that the team is getting in on the action, and the lodge is offering up a pair of the team’s newest stars.
According to the lodge, the St Louis Blues have signed defenseman Mikael “B-Boy” Backlund.
Backlund, who turns 27 in June, was the 19th overall pick in the 2016 NHL Draft and the 6th defenseman taken in that draft.
The St. Lawrence University product, who played at St. Mary’s University, has made a few appearances for the Blues this season, including a pair with the team in February and March.
Backwards hockey was a staple of Backlund’s life growing up in Saint Louis, but when he was selected by the Stampeders in the first round, it was only a matter of time before he signed his first professional contract.
He was signed to a one-year contract worth a cool $1.5 million.
While Backlund is a member of the Mount, he’ll be a member for a long time to come.
The lodge said in a statement that he will be honored for his contribution to the club and its community.
