Posted October 18, 2019 11:10:11 The new park is named for the Idaho Falls waterfall, which once flowed into the nearby Willows River.
It will also have a lodge, a mountain biking trail, a playground, and an outdoor amphitheater.
The area is slated to open in the spring.
The park will include a visitor center, hiking trails, an amphitheatre, picnic areas, an educational center, and a swimming pool.
Idaho Falls Falls is still accessible, but the water is not.
A portion of the trail is closed to vehicles.
The trail, called the “Willows Trail,” is expected to be open for recreational use beginning in 2018.
Willows Lake, located at the intersection of the Willows and Deer Lakes rivers, is the second largest lake in Montana, and is home to the world’s largest lake trout, the Rainbow Trout.
Mountain biking trails in the area are located at Willows Lake Falls, Wolf Creek Falls, and the Bear Mountain trailhead.
According to the park’s website, “The Willows Trail offers spectacular views of the lake, which is a scenic, diverse lakefront in the center of the Grand Canyon National Park.
The trail features a 2.5-mile paved road that traverses the lakebed and then the surrounding forest.
At the trailhead, you will find parking and restrooms on both sides of the road, as well as a variety of trail options including dirt, paved, and rock climbing.”
The park’s goal is to provide opportunities for people to “engage in nature and engage with nature in a safe and enjoyable way.”
Willow Lakes, Wolf and Bear Lake, and Wolf Creek will be closed to vehicular traffic from the spring through the end of 2018, but will reopen during the summer of 2019.
